At The Firm

Matt Showley volunteered in his daughter’s 2nd grade class for a half day as a part of Junior Achievement’s JA Day (Junior Achievement) and taught financial concepts such as spending vs. saving, paying taxes, the role of government, and needs vs. wants.   Later in the month, Matt attended the full day Vistage Executive Summit where he participated in several sessions on leadership, family business issues, and the economic outlook.

Brian attended a seminar on enhancing client experiences as CCMI always strives to improve on the services that we provide to our clients.  Brian also spent time getting the office reorganized as new furniture arrives as well as getting artwork on the walls.

Matt Ryan attended a CFA Society San Diego luncheon focused on Emerging Market opportunities. He also continues to monitor and prepare the portfolios for CCMI’s scheduled quarterly rebalancing periods.

Kim attended a San Diego County Taxpayers Association meeting this month, which is a nonpartisan association which advocates for policies that create efficiencies in public services.  Kim has joined the Subcommittee on Governance & Public Finance as a dialoguing member to provide input on regional issues and how they impact taxpayers.

Kim’s Girls Rising little sister is very artistic and expressed a desire to learn how to use a pottery wheel.  They attended a 2-hour class where they made various bowls and had a great time trying something new!

Kim’s LEAD Impact class learned about healthcare and housing this month.  They heard from various speakers including Assembly Member Todd Gloria on affordable housing and what is being done in San Diego.  Kim and her Leadership Action team are finalizing their project assisting Olivewood Gardens with their marketing plan and will present their plan at their graduation in early June.

The CCMI team continues to work on process improvement to make our operations more efficient and effective.  Current ongoing projects include revamping the financial plan that provides for more interaction and discussion, and updating the investment proposal document, among many other initiatives.

On The Home Front..

CCMI team member Matt Ryan had his wedding on March 30th. It was a beautiful evening in Point Loma overlooking the downtown skyline. Matt and Jess enjoyed having the entire CCMI team join in the festivities. Matt and Jess said their favorite part was writing their own vows and the ceremony.

After their wedding, Matt and Jess took their honeymoon in Costa Rica. They did all the cliché honeymoon activities such as ziplining, horseback riding, and a tour through one of Costa Rica’s most stunning national parks. They also had their fair share of sitting by the pool and on the beach to soak in the sun.

Brian, his wife Nikki, and daughter Emma (age 12) traveled to New York for a long weekend.  Emma enjoyed being the only Matter child on the trip as her brothers stayed in San Diego.  They enjoyed Central Park, the Statue of Liberty, the 9-11 Memorial, taking in a Broadway show, the Top of the Rock, and of course eating a lot of good food!

Monica continues to try to “puppy proof” her home for son, Alex’s puppy. Sierra is five months old and is quite a handful. They attend Puppy Training classes every Sunday evening.  The Larsons celebrated Easter by going to church and having a delicious brunch with extended family.

Matt Showley and his family spent a week on the North Shore of Oahu, HI which has become an annual trip for the Showleys.  They relaxed on the beach, snorkeled with turtles, and took a few new hikes this year.  They are already looking forward to next year’s trip.

Kim hosted Easter dinner at her house with her friends and their 4-year-old daughter.  They set up an Easter egg hunt for her, helped her learn how to ride a scooter and played with Play Doh.  Overall it was a fun day with lots of laughs and good food!

Kim celebrated her friend’s bachelorette party in Palm Springs.  They spent a relaxing weekend at a rented house enjoying the pool and good company.  They also did an escape room called Merlin’s Magic School and were able to get out successfully.

Katie’s regular season is wrapping up this month! Playoffs will start the second week of May and her team is very excited! Katie and Ben spent April coaching and attending Padres games. For Easter, they had a lovely day spending time with their families.
