At the firm…

The CCMI Team is proud to announce that Matt Ryan has successfully passed level 3 of the Chartered Financial Analyst® Exam! The Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA) credential is a professional designation focused on investment analysis and real-world portfolio management skills. To become a Chartered Financial Analyst professional, a candidate must pass 3 levels of exams and complete a 4-year experience requirement. The last step for Matt in order to use the credential is to fulfil the experience requirement.

The CCMI team finalized a lease agreement to remain in the same office for the next five years.  The team plans to remodel the two conference rooms, along with the reception area to make more use of some of the unusual angles that the building presents.  Matt and Brian are currently working with an architect to finalize designs, with the remodel expected to begin toward the end of this year.  We look forward to sharing the progress of the office remodel!

Matt and Brian finished updating the Business Continuity Plan, and they continue to work hard on updating the cybersecurity policy along with the rest of the policies and procedures.  CCMI is committed to safeguarding our clients’ assets which means that we are constantly evaluating and improving our systems.

Matt Showley, Monica and Kim met with Schwab’s subject matter expert as it relates to electronic signatures.  CCMI would love to be able to incorporate more eSignatures into our procedures and we continue to push Schwab in trying to make this workable for clients.  We plan to use this for available forms for clients who prefer to use this method of approval going forward.

Kim was accepted into the 2019 IMPACT program with LEAD San Diego.  IMPACT is an immersive 10-month program focusing on the issues and industries that are part of the San Diego region.  Kim is looking forward to this new opportunity which will include learning about San Diego’s issues alongside a cross section from San Diego’s business/non-profit/government professionals and finding ways to take a more active role in the San Diego community.

Brian volunteered on a Friday afternoon for LEAD San Diego interviewing potential candidates to participate in the IMPACT program, of which Brian graduated in 2014 (Matt Showley was also a 2013 graduate of the program).  Brian did not interview Kim as that would have been a conflict of interest!

On the home front…

Brian’s family traveled to Michigan to visit Nikki’s oldest sister who lives in Mt. Pleasant.  While in Michigan, the Matter family enjoyed spending time at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Shoreline, spending time playing in lakes, and other Michigan summer activities like picking blueberries.  Most importantly, Emma (11), Kai (9), and Koa (6) enjoyed spending time with their cousins.

Matt Showley took a weekday off to spend a relaxing day at the beach with his family before his kids started back to school.  It was a nice way to unwind after a busy summer.  With the August heat the Showley family spent many hours in the pool and the ocean and Elizabeth and Jacob have proven to be great swimmers.  Lizzie also jumped off her first 10-foot high dive and Jacob learned how to duck-dive under a wave!

Kim and Tyler attended the annual Summer Soiree with Women in Business where spouses were invited to join.  It was a “Sights and Sips” cruise along the bay and they enjoyed socializing with other WIB members in the San Diego bay at sunset.  Kim and Tyler also went to their neighbors’ 1-year old’s birthday party and did a 7 bridge – 5.5-mile loop walk around Hillcrest.

Matt Ryan enjoyed a vacation to Hawaii for a friend’s wedding. While the weather at the ceremony was sunny and perfect, the Hawaiian weather caught up to the wedding during the reception. It rained during the reception and encouraged the wedding attendees to stay on the dance floor while getting completely drenched. Matt was also able to hike, see a few waterfalls, bike along the boardwalk, and sit on the beach with a book in hand.

To beat the August heat, Mike and Monica have been taking many walks and bike rides at the beach in the evenings. Mike is building custom cabinets in the garage. Youngest son Cole has started his senior year at SDSU. Monica is getting excited for the start of the college football season.

Katie and family traveled to Rosarito where they spent a nice week on the beach. They ate delicious food and enjoyed sitting on the beach watching dolphins surf the waves.  Katie and Ben also celebrated their 7th wedding anniversary.
