At the firm…

San Diego fee-only financial planning and investment management firm CCMI is located in the Hyundai building.CCMI is pleased to announce that we have signed a 5-year lease extension in our current location.  As a part of this lease renewal we will be embarking on a remodel of our conference room and waiting area.  We are excited for the new design and look forward to using the new and improved space once it is completed.

Matt Showley played in a charity golf tournament benefiting Rady Children’s Hospital.  This is the 6th year that Matt has participated in the annual event which raises about $50,000 per year for the great work being done at Rady’s.

Brian has been busy updating the firm’s policies and procedures, including the business continuity plan and cybersecurity policy.  These documents get reviewed and updated regularly and are being updated now as a result of the mock audit that CCMI went through in June.  Additionally, Brian attended a webinar on proposed SEC standards that may impact the firm in the future.

Kim continues to evaluate a new financial planning software and has been running a client plan in parallel with the existing software.  While we have been long time users of the software we currently use, we are always looking for improvements that may give clients more flexibility or allow clients to make changes “on the fly” much easier than our present software.

Kim has officially embarked on her new role as Treasurer in her Women in Business group.  She is looking forward to continuing the organization’s strong financial status and helping educate some of the newer board members on how to read and understand the financial statements.

Matt Ryan continues to play a large role in preparing for our quarterly rebalancing period. Matt helps maintain our rebalancing software and updates client accounts when needed, which makes rebalancing periods like our recently completed July rebalance go much quicker and smoother for the team and clients.

On the home front…

CCMI’s Matt Ryan is ENGAGED! Matt planned a romantic dinner at Balboa Park to pop the question to his girlfriend (now fiancé) Jessica. Jess said yes! They are both excited about starting their married lives together. They also look forward to planning their wedding over the coming year.

Matt Showley’s wife Alex and daughter Elizabeth took a weeklong camping trip in Yosemite, giving Matt and his 4-year-old son Jacob some quality time together while the girls were gone.  Matt got to be a kid again playing with Legos, trucks, dinosaurs, and (trying) to play catch in the backyard after work each day.  The boys survived and were happy to see the girls when they came home safely.

Brian’s family started the month in Hawaii to visit his wife Nikki’s family and so their daughter Emma could attend an “Explorations” camp to learn about her Hawaiian roots.  At camp, Emma participated in an immersive experience to learn about how Hawaiian’s raised their food, how they lived, and learned many songs and dances in the Hawaiian language.  Emma had a great time and the rest of the family enjoyed the beaches, snorkeling and eating far too much of the tasty island food.

Brian’s family also got away for a weekend backpacking trip at the end of the month as their son Kai wanted to go backpacking for his 9th birthday.  The adventure took place just outside of Mammoth Lakes and everyone had a great time.

Monica and her family spent a long weekend in Yosemite earlier in the month. Unfortunately, it was during the fires so hiking and photographing were limited. Monica celebrated her birthday with the CCMI team at her favorite place to watch Alabama football for lunch. She also had a girls only “70’s Disco” party. Husband, Mike planned a weekend birthday “staycation” with her family at a downtown bay front hotel.

Katie and Ben wrapped up their summer lacrosse season with a tournament in Irvine during the heatwave. They are so proud of their girls’ performance over the summer. Their “A” team finished with an 11-3-2 record for the summer. Katie and Ben also went to Comic Con this month and enjoyed watching panels like the Big Bang Theory and enjoyed seeing all of the interesting, life-like costumes. Ben and Katie dressed up as themselves.

Kim and Tyler celebrated the evening of 4th of July with their friends.  Earlier that day, Kim and a few of her friends completed the Scripps Ranch Old Pros 50 mile bike ride.  It was a tough ride with lots of elevation but everyone succeeded in completing the ride and had fun doing it!  Kim and Tyler also enjoyed watching the World Cup and the Tour de France throughout the month.
