At the firm…

Kim attended the American Institute of CPA’s (AICPA) ENGAGE Conference. She attended various seminars about best practices in financial planning, estate planning, advanced tax strategies for high income individuals, and the US tax reform legislation. Kim enjoyed meeting others and learning more about strategies that can help our clients.

Kim attended a fundraiser for the non-profit organization Girls Rising where she volunteers her time as a big sister and mentor.  It was held at Sugar and Scribe bakery in La Jolla and raised enough funds to support 20 new little sisters!

Monica, Kim, Brian and Matt attended the Lights of LightBridge ceremony honoring Peg Eddy for her many years of support of the LightBridge Hospice Foundation and other charitable causes.  Brian had the honor of introducing Peg, one of CCMI’s remarkable founders.  Congratulations to Peg!

Brian and Matt completed a voluntary mock audit with our compliance attorney and we are pleased to report that we had wonderful feedback. CCMI continues to evolve and update our compliance program to the ever-changing regulatory landscape.

Matt Showley attended the YMCA’s Professional Advisor’s Symposium in Del Mar and heard two top national speakers discuss the new Qualified Business Income deduction of the new tax law, which is relevant for many of CCMI’s business owner clients.

Matt Ryan attended the educational Quarterly Symposium that the San Diego Financial Planning Association (FPA) provides. The presentations covered the new tax updates, effectively communicating investment strategies and other investment related topics to clients, and an investment related presentation from the Nobel Prize winning economist Dr. Harry Markowitz.

Matt Ryan also took Level 3 of the Chartered Financial Analyst Exam in June. He will receive the results towards the end of summer.

On the home front…

Matt and Alex Showley’s two kids are quite excited to be on summer break from Preschool and 1st grade, they have been enjoying time in their recently renovated back yard, going to the beach and taking bike rides in their neighborhood.

Brian and Nikki Matter’s daughter Emma was promoted from 5th Grade and is excited to advance to middle school.  The Matter family spent the last week of June in Hawaii, where Emma attended a summer explorations camp to learn about her Hawaiian heritage, while the rest of the family enjoyed visiting family, playing and relaxing with all that Oahu has to offer.

Kim attended a wine tour in the Valle de Guadalupe, Mexico with the Women in Business group, for which she is a board member.  The women had a wonderful time and enjoyed great food and wine along the way!  After such a busy month, she also enjoyed a quiet weekend at home relaxing with her husband Tyler.

Monica spent June weekends doing what she loves – decorating and crafting. One weekend was spent freshening up her home and then another weekend she went antique shopping with a friend and had fun decorating her friend’s home with their finds. She spent a Saturday volunteering at a family camp in Julian where she taught crafts to kids ages 3 to 12. Mike continues to work on reorganizing the family garage including building custom shelves, which Monica no doubt will find a way to decorate.

Matt Ryan attended a wedding here in San Diego. It was a beautiful day and a gorgeous venue. Matt was a groomsman and enjoyed all the festivities leading up to the wedding.

Matt Ryan also enjoyed multiple weekends in June at the beach playing volleyball with friends and family. He has a goal this summer of playing beach volleyball at least 3 times a month.

Katie enjoyed a slow June with some free weekends at home with Ben and her pups. For the first time ever, Winston and June (Katie’s pups) have fleas. It’s been a seemingly endless battle trying different options to rid themselves of the fleas! In other news, Katie and her club lacrosse team won a tournament this month and the team had a blast!
