At the firm…

Matt and Brian have been working hard with the firm’s architects on the plans for remodeling the office that came along with the recent lease renewal.  We hope construction will begin in late December or early January and we will keep you posted on the updates!

The CCMI team completed our annual business planning meeting in late November to review our progress for 2018 and discuss goals and key projects that we will undertake in 2019.

The Team also went to City Tacos and Hammond’s Ice Cream to celebrate Kim’s birthday. They really enjoyed the flights of ice cream samplers and joked that they would sample all 32 flavors.

Brian assisted LEAD San Diego’s IMPACT program by interviewing ten non-profits seeking to be selected as a project for class participants to work on as part of a leadership action teams.  Brian and Matt are program graduates, and Kim is currently participating in the LEAD IMPACT program.  Brian also volunteered time as a Personal Management Merit Badge counselor for a local Boy Scout troop looking to complete the merit badge about personal finance.

Kim and Matt Ryan attended an afternoon conference focused on advisor compliance. This conference was put on by National Regulatory Services (NRS) which is one of the leaders of compliance education in our industry.  CCMI is committed to staying compliant in an industry with constant changes as it relates to regulation.

Kim attended this month’s LEAD San Diego IMPACT’s event which was centered around education and located at the San Diego Zoo.  Kim heard from leaders of local educational institutions and was interested in hearing about how local schools are providing opportunities for underprivileged students.

Matt Showley is nearing the end of his term as Treasurer for the Board for a local charter school, which recently received unanimous approval from the San Diego Unified School Board for a 5 year charter renewal – a great accomplishment for any charter school and the end of a long road that began 5 years ago when the school was founded.

On the home front…

Brian’s family had another month full of soccer.  Brian finished coaching Koa’s (6 years old) team and had a fun season with the Lemon Sharks.  Brian helped coach Emma’s (11 years old) team, the “Watermelon Warriors”, to a tournament championship and was proud of the girls as they started the tournament as the lowest seed and emerged as champions.  Kai’s (9 years old) team also played extremely well but lost in the championship game.  Congratulations to Emma and Kai for both making the All-Star team, and congratulations to Brian for being recognized as one of the Coaches of the Year!

Matt Ryan started his fourth-year volunteering as an assistant coach for Saint Augustine High School’s freshman basketball team. Tryouts were held in early November and the team began playing games by the end of the month. Matt is looking forward to coaching and helping to improve the skill level of the young men on the team. Matt also took a trip to the San Diego Zoo Safari Park for a guided tour. He and his family traveled around the open field in a “Safari Truck” to get up close and personal with the animals in the enclosure. As seen in the picture, Matt and his fiancé Jessica were able to feed a giraffe that wandered over to the back of the truck.

Matt Showley and his wife Alex visited longtime friends in Portland, OR for a long weekend in early November.  They had nice weather and a great trip for their first ever visit to Oregon.  They also drove to Eugene, OR for the Oregon vs. UCLA football game and really enjoyed the campus and college football experience.

Kim celebrated her birthday this month. She enjoyed an afternoon gathering and had fun catching up with many friends, some of whom she hadn’t seen in a long time.  With both Kim and Tyler’s families on the east coast, they hosted “Friendsgiving” this year and made sure to include everyone’s favorite Thanksgiving dishes.

Monica started Christmas shopping this month by attending some local craft fairs and flea markets. She continues to spend Saturdays watching college football with friends. Mike and Monica enjoyed having both sons home for the long Thanksgiving weekend.

Katie and Ben had a great Thanksgiving and were able to see their families. They also got to meet Sadie, a rescued Greyhound, who Katie’s mom just adopted. Sadie was a champion racer, but now is in a home with a loving family. They have enjoyed watching Sadie develop her trust of humans, and love of treats and comfy dog beds.
